Mission

The mission of this show is to present insightful commentary on a variety of issues, such as contemporary news, politics, ethics, theology, apologetics, economics, and so forth. Veracity Hill offers well-reasoned arguments for why we should adopt certain beliefs consistent within a Christian worldview. To assist with this goal, Kurt hosts on-air interviews with scholarly, academic thinkers from a variety of perspectives who can offer insight from their areas of expertise. The live broadcast allows listeners to ask real-time questions of Kurt and guests.

About the Name

Veracity is the attribute of habitual truthfulness. Kurt’s long-time goal has been to seek out the truth and defend it. A radio show will afford him a new platform to present the truth to others. The concept of a hill, or more specifically, a hill with a city, is found in Matthew 5 where Jesus tells his disciples, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Additionally, this imagery is seen in the American political landscape, which makes for a wonderful integration of faith and politics. In 1630 the Puritan leader John Winthrop used the image of a city on a hill to describe the forthcoming settlements in New England. The settlers were to be a shining example of religious liberty in a New World. Since then, the term has taken on an additional meaning of American exceptionalism, most famously spoken of by President Ronald Reagan. In his farewell address to the nation on January 11, 1989 he said,

I’ve spoken of the shining city all my political life…. And how stands the city on this winter night? … After 200 years, two centuries, she still stands strong and true to the granite ridge, and her glow has held no matter what storm. And she’s still a beacon, still a magnet for all who must have freedom, for all the pilgrims from all the lost places who are hurtling through the darkness, toward home.

Today America must continue to be that city upon a hill defending the truth against the evils that ensnare our nation. The political and ethical battles we fight in the public square are theological battles. These spiritual battles we are fighting call on us to engage people, not to sit idly by and watch as our society falls into moral decline. Bringing insightful Christian commentary will be a good avenue to fight for the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Vision

Our vision for Veracity Hill is to be a high quality podcast and sought after radio program. While the show will not fit one topical niche, we hope it’ll be an authoritative voice for those looking for accessible, yet challenging content from a Christian worldview. We have a four year plan in place to get Veracity Hill into numerous radio markets across the country. With your help and support, we can do it!

Never Miss an Episode!
